The acronym “ATA” indicates the Administrative and Technical staff e Auxiliary state employee working in Italian schools
ATA staff includes school assistants, administrative and technical assistants, cooks, nurses, cloakroom attendants, and directors. To access each role, specific requirements must be met, particularly those relating to: titles di studio necessary to perform the reference function.
The inclusion in the ATA staff lists takes place through competitions by qualifications and/or exams. ATA calls for applications are published periodically and are aimed at inclusion in the ranking and/or updating one's position, for example, by acquiring scores based on service and/or academic qualifications. Each ATA staff competition is announced at different intervals, depending on the relevant ranking.
ATA first band rankings – includes candidates included in the permanent provincial rankings (24 months – art. 554 of Legislative Decree 297/1994);
ATA second band rankings – includes candidates included in the provincial rankings for CS, in the provincial lists for AA, AT, CU, IF and GU (Ministerial Decree 75/2001), and in the provincial lists for CR (Ministerial Decree 35/2004);
ATA third band rankings – is drawn up on the basis of the specific ATA staff competition, which is announced by the MIUR every 3 years For the assignment of temporary substitute teaching positions. Experience is not required; anyone with the qualifications required by the ATA (Italian National Association of Teachers) for the professional profiles being offered can apply.

- Up to a maximum of 1,20 points for administrative assistants, technical assistants, cooks or nurses;
- Up to a maximum of 0,60 points for school assistants, agricultural workers, and cloakroom attendants.
