"Nuove Frontiere Lavoro", in collaboration with the training organization "Idee Insieme" and thanks to the "Formatemp" fund, publishes a course in "Tailoring and industrial sewing assistant" in presence with the aid of laboratory classrooms
The tailoring and industrial sewing worker falls within the professional economic sector "Textiles, clothing, footwear and fashion system", in the work process "Production of clothing products" in the activity area "Sewing and finishing of clothing products" specified as follows:
- Acquisition and application of work equipment and tools;
- Organization of work cycle;
- Packaging, sewing, joining, finishing, ironing techniques, Knowledge of the composition of textile production machines;
TARGETS: The course aims to provide skills related to the clothing manufacturing and repair process, from manual or automated cutting of materials to the final assembly and finishing, following a guideline compliant with that established by ISFOL, now INAPP. The course is held at Idee Insieme's textile production laboratory, with the necessary equipment and tools for effective course completion.
At the end of the course, students will be able to manage the tailoring and industrial sewing service by acquiring the following skills:
- Identify the roles and tasks of the professional figure
- Know and use basic tailoring equipment
- Take measurements
- Know and use the worksheet
- Know and use work machines
- Knowing and using the iron
- Know and use fabrics and needles
Students will practice using precise equipment appropriate for textile production.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: the course is aimed at candidates for temporary work assignments (both unemployed and out of work) registered and selected by the Employment Agency;
- for foreigners, knowledge of the Italian language and grammar, even if NOT certified;

Presentation of the course and the professional figure
Basic sewing tools and equipment: Standard sewing kit (tape measure, pencils, eraser, pencil sharpener, red and blue markers and crayons, rulers and set squares, calculator, paper tape, paper and fabric scissors, pins, stiff pattern paper, lightweight pattern paper, binder, and cling film)

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
Using video projections, the instructor will demonstrate the tools students will use to carry out their work. The professional figure and their role will also be described. Subsequently, the instructor will allow students to learn directly through a practical demonstration.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
Simulation
The class conducts practical exercises related to tailoring, cutting (by hand or machine), and repairing an item of clothing. Each student is given materials and a handout briefly summarizing the simulated situation, which will be performed in turn. Each simulation is observed by all students, prompted and corrected by the teacher, and finally discussed in plenary at the end.
